Committed to delivering great value loft conversions
One of the repercussions on businesses of government’s reactions to the global Coronavirus pandemic is a huge impact on consumer spending. Because people have not been able to go out for meals, to the cinema, theatres, on holidays etc, disposable income is at a high. This means that across the first world, people have embarked on more large home improvement projects than usual.
This boom in home improvements and construction has resulted in a massive impact on demand for related products. The result is unprecedented price increases for construction materials, in particular timber.
As you can imagine, this affects companies like Jon Pritchard. Your new loft needs wood!
Federation of Master Builders
The Federation of Master Builders, of which Jon Pritchard is a member, are constantly monitoring the price increases situation. In a recent article they noted:
“Globally, people’s demand for timber products is much higher than the rate at which it is being produced. Demand is particularly high in China and the US, and these countries are prepared to pay more to get their hands on the products. This leaves less to go around for other countries. Production in Europe in 2020 was far lower than the previous year, as saw mills shut down due to Covid. Back at full capacity now, planned shutdowns this summer might mean higher prices into the autumn.”
Brexit is also having an affect on timer prices, since many of the UK’s suppliers are in Europe.
At Jon Pritchard we’ve done all we can to manage the situation but have reached the point where we’re obliged to pass cost increases on to our customers.
From the initial quote, through to structural surveys and most importantly the build, everything was executed really professionally and to a high standard of quality. The pricing was spot on to the quote and was competitive with other quotes.
Your loft conversion investment
At this point the price increase across the whole project is not enormous. Your loft conversion is still an excellent investment in your largest asset, and in your lifestyle. And Jon Pritchard are, as always, committed to giving you the best service and a beautiful new loft floor.
Past customers have commented that Jon Pritchard’s lofts are excellent value for money. We are confident that you will find that in this respect, nothing has changed. All businesses are being hit with exactly the same price increases and Jon Pritchard will continue to deliver the best personal loft conversion service in the South West.
We shortlisted Jon Pritchard Lofts after talking to neighbours about the various companies in the Bristol area who do loft conversions. They produced a competitive price based on our requirements…We have no hesitation in recommending Jon Pritchard to others.

A small percentage across your project
We are setting our price increase in line with the UK governments’ calculations on the average price increase for construction projects. For us the most impact comes from timber, but supplies across the board are in heavy demand and prices are consistently increasing.
The average percentage our loft conversion costs are being increased by since a year or so ago (on top of inflation) is between 5 & 10%
We know that your loft conversion is a big investment, and we are committed to providing you with outstanding service and a beautiful new top floor to your home.
to see a company that meets the standards that they meet is truly exceptional. Would always recommend them and the team they have are fantastic.
